French Defence: Tarrasch Variation

The move Nd2 prevents Black from entering the Winawer (3.Nc3 Bb4). The knight on d2 exerts no pressure on d5 and may lead to slower development of white's pieces but the move is solid and leads to games of a more positional nature than its main alternative of 3.Nc3.
