Accepting the d-pawn is the main move. From here, Black has three choices:

3...e4!? is the traditional idea, but it has fallen out of fashion due to 4. d3!, the Charousek gambit. If 4...Qxd5 5. Nc3 (hits queen) Bb4. If 4...Nf6 5. dxe4 with complications that favour White.

3...exf4 is the main move today. 4. Nf3 (to prevent Qh4+) transposes to the modern king's gambit accepted.

3...c6!? is the Nimzowitsch-Marshall countergambit that offers material for development.
