Black threatens to play ...d5 with beautiful development and only a slightly misplaced queen to worry about. But 5. Nc3 covers d5 and gains further time by hitting the e4-pawn. Rarely do such delicate works as Black's encounter such a robust spanner as 5. Nc3.
