Trébuchet Gambit

[edit | edit source]White sacrifices a bishop to lure Black's king into the open, and then possibly checkmate or win material through Black's poor king safety. While this gambit is unsound, it can be employed in blitz games where Black may be likely to blunder. This opening is similar to the Jerome Gambit.
