[edit | edit source]This is Black's best move, defending the g7 pawn and developing the queen, although it blocks the g8 knight from developing to its most convenient square. Despite 4. Nf3 being White's best move and most common move, White's second most common move, 4. Nc3 being slightly worse, it sets up some fun Nd5 ideas now that c7 is no longer defended by the queen and can lead to some sharp positions.
