Caro-Kann Defence, Endgame Offer
[edit | edit source]Here White double attacks Black's h-pawn. While it is natural to defend the pawn (with 5...h6 or Nf6), White is also threatening a knight sacrifice to win Black's queen, which Black must address. Thus, moving their queen out of the way with 5...Qa5+ or blocking it with 5...Nd7 are Black's best choices.
