Position in Forsyth-Edwards Notation (FEN)
Moves: 1. e3 e5
ECO code: A00
Parent: Van 't Kruijs opening

1...e5

[edit | edit source]

Black takes space in the centre.

If White responds 2. d4, a reversed French defence position is arrived at, more usually seen in the Englund gambit declined with e3.

2. e4?! appears to reach the usual position seen after 1. e4 e5, the Open game--except this time it's Black to move.
