Soller Gambit
[edit | edit source]Black offers a second pawn with 2...f6. Although it looks like a weakening move, White must be careful to avoid falling into potential traps.
White can capture the pawn with 3. exf6, but Black gains a lead in development in exchange after re-capturing with the knight.
Alternatively, White can give back the pawn by playing 3. e4. Note that Black cannot immediately capture the e5 pawn as 3...fxe5?? loses to 4. Qh5+.
