English Opening, Anglo-Lithuanian Variation
[edit | edit source]With the Anglo-Lithuanian Variation, Black develops their queenside knight and aims to control the central squares. This is a relatively rare move in the English Opening and could be transpositional.
2. d4 transposes into a line in the Mikenas Defence (1. d4 Nc6 2. c4) and grabs space in the center. This is the most accurate move.
However, White can stay in the realm of English openings by playing 2. Nc3 or 2. g3. This is the most popular approach.
